about jeff Wells
The carving journey for Jeff Wells started after a tornado cut through Southbury, CT, right before he moved to the area with his young family. Trees were everywhere to cleanup on the new property, Jeff found direction under the guidance of his neighbor and chainsaw guru, Dave Blearch a.k.a. "Chainsaw Dave".
Dave was making his usual drive by to check on Jeff, when Dave found him shaping one of the logs with a standard chainsaw setup.
It was at this point, Dave gave Jeff a monumental suggestion, "You should get a carving bar for your saw." Completely new to the concept, Jeff began to research as much as possible about the carving world. Dave was the biggest supporter for Jeff, providing a wide variety of chainsaws, unlimited chains, and constant assistance with moving logs for carving setup. He remains a key backbone to Jeff's carving career and a close friend.
Once Jeff had a handle on the basics with chainsaw carving, the next key step was finding detailing equipment. Professional Power Carver, Ryan Cook, shared a few quick tips and additional tool suggestions to get Jeff rolling in the right direction. While freelancing architectural services during the day, Jeff began power carving at night; creating free sculptures for local neighbors and friends. After 2 years of pro-bono carving and increasing the tool supply, Jeff was officially ready to accept professional carving commissions. It wasn't until the beginning of 2021, the carving requests booked his first season and forced Jeff to mature Saw To Life, LLC beyond a hobby and into a full-time business.
"Saw To Life strives to encourage people to fuel a passion for what nature has to offer by our Creator. God is so good! And it's by His blessing this opportunity to contribute in this artform is here today. No matter the challenge, I'm humbly here to serve." - Jeff <>
